Dr. Diekema is Director of Education at the Treuman Katz Center for Pediatric Bioethics, and Chair of the Seattle Children’s Hospital Institutional Review Board Committee. He is a Professor of Bioethics and of Emergency Medicine, an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Bioethics and Humanities, and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine. Dr. Glover is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics and the Center for Bioethics and Humanities, and Director of the Humanities, Ethics and Professionalism (HEP) thread in the School of Medicine curriculum. Dr. Glover serves on the ethics committees and the ethics consult services at the University of Colorado Hospital and the Children’s Hospital Colorado as well as the research ethics consult service. She organizes the Clinical Ethics Leads from the Children’s Hospital and the University of Colorado Hospital in their Quality Improvement Efforts.

John D. Lantos MD

A former President of the American Society of Bioethics and Humanities, Dr. Lantos is the founding director of the Children’s Mercy Bioethics Center, and was the inaugural holder of the John B. Francis Chair in Bioethics at the Center for Practical Bioethics. He is currently the Director of Pediatric Bioethics at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, where he is also a Professor of Pediatrics. Dr. Lantos spent 20 years on the faculty of The University of Chicago’s Pritzker School of Medicine, is an advisor to the American Academy of Pediatrics on bioethics, and a former associate editor of three journals; he has published five books and over 250 journal articles and book chapters in the eld of bioethics.

Dr. Mercurio is a Professor of Pediatrics (Neonatology) and Chief of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine; he is the Director of the Program for Biomedical Ethics at the Yale School of Medicine, and Director of the Yale Pediatrics Ethics Program. Dr. Mercurio oversees the ethics education of Yale medical students, and participates in ethics education for attending physicians, fellows, residents, nurses, and physician associate students. He has more than 25 years of experience as a clinical neonatologist, actively involved in the training of fellows and residents in the Newborn ICU, and over 20 years’ experience in clinical ethics consultation in pediatrics and adult medicine.

Christine Mitchell RN, MS, MTS, FAAN

Harvard Medical School

Christine Mitchell, executive director of the Center for Bioethics at Harvard Medical School, founded the ethics program at Boston Children’s Hospital, directed the ethics consultation service, and led the Ethics Advisory Committee for 30 years. She is an elected Fellow of the American Academy of Nurses, and has served on numerous national committees and commissions, including the American Society for Bioethics and Humanities’ Clinical Ethics Consultation Committee and, most recently, the Ethical, Legal, and Social Aspects Committee for the Human Brain Project funded by the European Commission.  She lectures nationally and internationally on issues in clinical ethics.  Her published work includes documentary filmmaking, a regular series for The Journal of Clinical Ethics, and broad publications in the bioethics and popular literature.

Jonathan D. Moreno PhD

The University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine

Dr. Moreno is a Professor of Medical Ethics and Health Policy, of History and Sociology of Science, and of Philosophy. He is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine, is a National Associate of the National Research Council, and is the U.S. member of the UNESCO International Bioethics Committee. Dr. Moreno is widely published, and has given invited testimony for both houses of congress. In 2008-09 he served as a member of President Barack Obama’s transition team, where he served as a senior staff member of the presidential advisory commission on bioethics, a post he has held with two previous administrations.

The University of Chicago Medicine

Dr. Ross is a trained philosopher and a practicing pediatrician. She is the Carolyn and Matthew Bucksbaum Professor of Clinical Medical Ethics, an Associate Director of MacLean Center for Clinical Medical Ethics, and co-director of the Ethics Consultation Service, providing both clinical and research ethics consultation. Dr. Ross serves on the Secretary’s Advisory Committee on Human Research Protections (SACHRP) and as the chair of the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Bioethics Executive Committee. A frequent lecturer at national and international conferences, Dr. Ross has written more than 100 research articles, and published two books on pediatric ethics, with a third forthcoming.

The John’s Hopkins University and John’s Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics

Dr. Rushton is the Anne and George L. Bunting Professor of Clinical Ethics in the Berman Institute of Bioethics and the School of Nursing at Johns Hopkins University, with a joint appointment in the School of Medicine’s Department of Pediatrics. A founding member of the Berman Institute, Dr. Rushton co-chairs the Johns Hopkins Hospital’s Ethics Consultation Service.

Yoram Unguru MD, MS, MA

The Children’s Hospital at Sinai and John’s Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics

Dr. Unguru is a pediatric hematologist/oncologist at The Herman and Walter Samuelson Children’s Hospital at Sinai; Core Faculty, John Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics; and an Assistant Professor, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Unguru Chairs the Sinai Hospital Ethics Committee where he also directs an ethics curriculum for the pediatric house staff. Dr. Unguru is a member of the Children’s Oncology Group, Bioethics Steering Committee. He has served as a consultant to the American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Pediatric Research and the American Medical Association’s Council on Ethical and Judicial Affairs. He has published and spoken nationally on a wide range of issues in pediatric bioethics.
